A Weekend in Dubai (2026): What Two Days Out Actually Cost

A Weekend in Dubai (2026): What Two Days Out Actually Cost

Last updated: 25 October 2026

Ask what a weekend in Dubai costs and you will get two useless answers: “Dubai is expensive” from people who brunch at five-star hotels, and “Dubai is cheap” from people who never leave the cafeteria districts. Both are describing a real weekend — they are just describing different ones. This guide prices both, for one person, over two days: a budget weekend built on cafeteria meals, the metro and one paid ticket, and a mid-range weekend built on a Saturday brunch, a cinema ticket and the same paid ticket. Every price comes from a named source — most of them from this site’s own earlier research — and the arithmetic is printed next to every total so you can rebuild each weekend at your own level.

How much money do you need for a weekend in Dubai?

For one person: AED 112–212 for a budget weekend, and AED 451–465 for a mid-range weekend. The budget build spends AED 22 on transport, AED 60–160 on four cafeteria meals and AED 30 on one paid activity, with the beach, the fountain show and Old Dubai’s lanes free. The mid-range build spends AED 285 on a brunch package alone — more than the entire budget weekend — then adds a cinema ticket, the same AED 30 activity and food-court meals around it.

Neither figure is a guess, and neither is an average of other people’s weekends. They are itemised builds, set out line by line in the next two sections, using prices this site has already researched and published: metro fares from our transport in Dubai guide, meal prices from our cost of eating out in Dubai guide, and monthly budgets from our cost of living in Dubai guide, which the closing section uses to test these weekends against real salaries.

What does a budget weekend cost for one person?

AED 112–212 for two days — AED 22 of transport, four meals at AED 15–40 each, and one AED 30 paid ticket, built around the parts of Dubai that charge nothing.

Line AED Basis
Metro / bus — 4 journeys over 2 days 20 4 × AED 5, the 2-zone Silver Nol fare (RTA)
Abra crossings on Dubai Creek — 2 2 2 × AED 1 (RTA abra fare)
Food — 4 cafeteria meals 60–160 4 × AED 15–40, the full budget-meal band in the cheaper districts
Paid activity — Global Village entry 30 Any Day ticket, Season 31 (opened 14 October 2026)
Kite Beach, Dubai Fountain, Al Fahidi 0 Public beach, fountain show and heritage lanes carry no entry charge
Total 112–212

The shape of the weekend matters more than the total. Saturday in Old Dubai: metro to Bur Dubai, the Al Fahidi lanes on foot, an abra across the creek to the souks and back — the two dirhams of abra fares are the best-value line in this entire guide — and cafeteria meals at both ends of the day. Sunday evening at Global Village, which is the one paid ticket: Season 31 entry is AED 25 on a weekday ticket (Monday to Thursday) and AED 30 on the Any Day ticket that weekends require — note that Sunday moved into the weekend pricing band this season. Inside the park, rides and food are extra and no published per-person price exists for either, so this build counts entry only and says so.

The free lines are doing real work in this budget. Kite Beach and JBR charge nothing to enter, the Dubai Fountain show costs nothing to watch from the promenade, and Old Dubai’s lanes and souks are free to walk. The food band is the swing line: four meals at the bottom of the cafeteria band (AED 15) total AED 60; at the top (AED 40) they total AED 160 — and that AED 100 gap is almost the whole difference between the two ends of this weekend’s range. Eat twice at home across the weekend and the food line halves again, which is what most residents on this budget actually do.

One transport note, because it decides whether this build works for you: the AED 5 fare assumes your trips stay within two Nol zones, as most cross-city weekend trips do. The full fare table — AED 3 for one zone, AED 7.50 for three or more, and why the AED 230 monthly pass only makes sense if your weekdays already justify it — is in our transport in Dubai guide.

What does a mid-range weekend cost in Dubai?

AED 451–465 for one person — and the brunch is most of it. A single Saturday brunch package costs more than the cafeteria meals, metro fares and paid ticket of the budget weekend combined.

Line AED Basis
Saturday brunch — soft package 285 The Restaurant, Address Creek Harbour, Saturdays 1–4pm (venue’s own offers page)
Cinema — 1 standard ticket 46 VOX / Reel standard price, October 2026
Paid activity — Global Village entry 30 Any Day ticket, Season 31
Transport — 6 journeys over 2 days 30 6 × AED 5, 2-zone Silver Nol fare (RTA)
Other food — 2 food-court meals 60–74 2 × AED 30–37, mall food-court meals from named menus
Total 451–465

Brunch is where Dubai weekends are won and lost, so here is the ladder rather than a single price. At the cheaper end, Time Out Dubai’s 2026 brunch listings put PizzaExpress Live in JLT at AED 145 for the soft package and AED 175 with house drinks on a Saturday. The build above uses the soft package at The Restaurant at Address Creek Harbour — AED 285 per person, AED 385 with house drinks — from the venue’s own offers page, where the brunch runs every Saturday from 1pm to 4pm through the end of December 2026. Swap in the house package and this weekend’s total becomes AED 551–565. At the top end, the Jou Jou Brasserie brunch at the Four Seasons in Jumeirah, relaunched in September 2026, runs AED 485 soft, AED 715 house and AED 850 with champagne — one person’s brunch there costs more than four entire budget weekends from the section above.

The rest of the mid-range build is deliberately unglamorous, because that is how mid-range weekends actually look outside the brunch photos. The cinema ticket is the standard AED 46 this site priced in October 2026 at VOX and Reel. The paid activity is the same AED 30 Global Village ticket as the budget build — the park does not charge mid-range visitors more. And the other food lines are food-court meals at AED 30–37, priced from named mall menus in our eating out guide. One honesty point: this site’s mid-range dinner builds (AED 154–278) are priced for two people, and no named source publishes a solo equivalent — so rather than halve a two-person figure and present it as data, this build feeds its second day at the food court and says so. Book a real dinner for two instead of the two food-court meals and the weekend rises by roughly AED 80–200.

Stat card: two Dubai weekends for one person — budget AED 112 to 212, mid-range AED 451 to 465; one mid-range weekend takes 86 to 89 percent of a AED 5,000 salary's monthly leftover

How much of a AED 5,000, AED 10,000 or AED 15,000 salary should weekends take?

Run weekly, the budget weekend takes 9.0–17.0% of a AED 5,000 salary, 4.5–8.5% of AED 10,000 and 3.0–5.7% of AED 15,000. Run weekly, the mid-range weekend takes 36.1–37.2% of AED 5,000, 18.0–18.6% of AED 10,000 and 12.0–12.4% of AED 15,000 — which is why the honest answer differs by salary: the budget pattern is a weekly habit at almost any pay band, and the mid-range pattern is a monthly treat at AED 10,000, a weekly habit only at AED 15,000, and barely possible at all at AED 5,000.

The arithmetic, at four weekends a month:

Weekend pattern AED/month % of AED 5,000 % of AED 10,000 % of AED 15,000
Budget (AED 112–212) × 4 448–848 9.0–17.0% 4.5–8.5% 3.0–5.7%
Mid-range (AED 451–465) × 4 1,804–1,860 36.1–37.2% 18.0–18.6% 12.0–12.4%

Percentages of salary are not the sharpest test, though — the sharper one is what is left after essentials. In our cost of living in Dubai budgets, one person is left with AED 524 a month on a AED 5,000 salary, AED 4,509 on AED 10,000 and AED 8,876 on AED 15,000 after rent, bills, food and transport. Held against those leftovers: one mid-range weekend (AED 451–465) consumes 86–89% of the entire month’s leftover at AED 5,000 — the brunch weekend or the month’s savings, not both. One budget weekend (AED 112–212) takes 21–40% of that same leftover, leaving something saved in most months. At AED 10,000, four mid-range weekends take 40–41% of the leftover — affordable, but they halve the savings rate to do it. At AED 15,000, the same four weekends take 20–21% of the leftover, and the budget stops noticing them.

So the working rules this guide lands on: at AED 5,000 — the band many drivers in Dubai earn in — weekends run on the budget pattern, and a brunch weekend is a planned occasion, not a habit. At AED 10,000, one mid-range weekend a month is 4.5–4.7% of salary and fits comfortably; four is a choice to spend the leisure budget and little else. At AED 15,000 — inside the band registered nurses in Dubai can reach with experience — the mid-range pattern weekly is 12.0–12.4% and still leaves the majority of the leftover untouched. Run your own salary and your own weekend pattern through the Savings Calculator and the percentages above become your numbers, not these three bands.
